On April 19th, 2023 the Susquehanna Board of Education unanimously voted to pass the following addendum to the District's All Hazards Plan:

SCSD School Community Administrative Notification Protocol For Act 26 Violations

The building principal shall notify the school community of any Act 26 violations by students, where a weapon was possessed, and utilized as a weapon, within 24 hours.

The building principal shall notify the school community of any Act 26 violations by students, where the weapon possessed was a firearm, within 24 hours.

The building principal shall consult with the superintendent of schools for guidance on Act 26 violations by students where a non-firearm weapon was possessed by a student, but not utilized as a weapon or threatened to be utilized as a weapon. The superintendent of schools shall consult with the district's solicitor and law enforcement prior to giving guidance to the building principal.

I believe this addition was in response to not only my letter below, but our concern as a community for appropriate communication from the district. The above addendum was presented by Mr. Stone and I appreciate the reconsideration both he and the Board of Education gave this matter.
